Provisional Acceptance to IUPP General or Specialized Tracks
The IUPP Fundamentals Program is designed to increase the academic success of international students and ease the transition for the students in adapting to UCI’s academic culture and expectations. Students in the IUPP Fundamentals are provisionally admitted to IUPP General or Specialized Tracks. The following conditions must be met in order to progress to IUPP Zot General or Specialized Tracks:
- Obtain a qualifying TOEFL or IELTS score required by IUPP Zot General or Specialized Tracks;
- Successfully graduate from the IUPP Fundamentals Track with completion of ESL level 5 in the 10-Week ESL Program; (Note: Students placed in level 5 or higher upon arrival are eligible to shorten their program and transfer to IUPP Zot Program, which includes General or Specialized Tracks at the end of their first quarter. Prior approval from the IUPP academic counselor is required.)
- Demonstrate acceptable behavior and academic performance.
Full-Time Study Requirements
A full-time course of study, in compliance with both UC and U.S. immigration requirements, is defined as:
- Minimum of 18 hours of ESL and IUPP courses per quarter
To successfully complete IUPP Fundamentals, students must fulfill all program requirements, including maintaining program academic performance standards in ESL and IUPP coursework. Students may be dismissed if they fail to meet IUPP Fundamentals Track requirements and/or behavioral standards: UC Academic Standards and UC Behavioral Standards. UCI will monitor each student’s academic and personal progress. After each student signs the FERPA Authorization to Release Information to a Designated Third Party, UCI Division of Continuing Education may report student’s performance to designated recipients, including UCI Undergraduate Admissions, the admissions units of other US university campuses, and the student’s parents/guardians.
UCI Division of Continuing Education reserves the right to review and evaluate all IUPP Fundamentals Track students and to dismiss students who fail to meet IUPP Fundamentals Track requirements.
